Has it begun?
So, 600 miles in, a flawless trip to the isle of Anglesey and back (london) plus my normal work commute of several miles.
Today when i was taking my kid to school a dread red warning light came on!
Something to do with electrical, well i had to take my kid to school so drove car, when i got back into the car, fault was cleared.
Decided to call dealer anyway, and advised to press button in car for land rover assistance as that would be the fastest resolve.
Land rover assistance came within 2 hours, and advised that the fault is showing the battery(48v) isnt charging, and that it should get towed into dealer asap. So he organized for pick up tomorrow. He also arranged courtesy car and i went and picked it uo right away, which was a pleasant surprise(was at
The dealer closest to me too)
He did mention that this is a fault that he is seen few times and hat The defender is pretty bullet proof once this issue is resolved (just quoting him, wether its true or not remains to be seen)
Let see what happens
Once car goes in tomorrow! Will parts be available? Is it a quick fix or will my car be sitting there for a while.
I did mention to the dealer(my sales advisor was great from start to finish during the buying process , and even followed up numerous times today re the fault) that the car is just over a week old, so i expect them to prioritize things but we will see….
Censored happens, its how they resolve it that matters in my opinion.
To be continued…. I guess…

Had no issues with mine.

Spares supply has improved so you may be okay. At least you got a courtesy vehicle straight away, l had to wait two months for the hose recall because l needed a courtesy vehicle.

Yours won't need the hose recall, that was on the 2022

It stands for belt-integrated starter-generator, which is a device at the heart of mild-hybrid systems, which in turn are synonymous with modern 48V electrical systems.
In short, and alternator substitute rated at 48v instead of 12V .

Audi has been experiencing failure of their belt starter generator (BSG) in vehicles equipped with their 48V mild hybrid system. No warning before failure, just red lights and it’s done. Affects the A6, A8, Q7, Q8, RSQ8.
I just sold my Q8. Mine hadn’t failed yet but at least one person on the Q8 forum experienced a second failure after replacement. Audi extended the warrant to 7 years unlimited miles but still has no fix. I didn’t take it on long trips to avoid being stranded.
Replaced it with a 2024 Defender 110 SE with the P500 V8. No 48V system.

Hope this is a one off failure for Defenders. Mercedes uses a similar system with an ISG, I haven’t heard of issues with their system.

When the first Audi failures started, back orders where 3-4 moths, now 2-3 weeks.
