Would'nt be something as simple the propshaft being fitted incorrectly i.e not lining up with the aligning marks?
Suppose you checked the coupling for adequate grease. Knowing you I feel sure you have eliminated both these causes. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel 1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu 2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai |

have a good look underneath in the light, I found a few stray items on mine, simply clipped into place.
also check around the brake discs and abs cables. did you lift the suspension ? If so, probably propshaft related, check you nipples too keep us informed |

Are you sure it wasn't Amy? My daughter is still off we bought a Defender "instead" of using the money to put down a deposit on a flat for her Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Agreed, will do searches on rear diffs It's booked in for the 28th! Does anyone else have a noise once it's warmed up after a few miles at speed? and I couldn't think of a better way of spending your daughters inheritance ZeDefender |

Yes 3300 miles now Spud, never towed anything significant in weight, never offroaded etc. The more I hear the noise the more I think it is the gearbox! I can get it to make the noise at 2000RPM at about 40 - 50 mph and can get it to be quite loud which is almost a relief so it can be identified easily hopefully sorted properly.
I will be towing 2 tonnes 200 miles the day before it goes in so that might help it up a bit more It sounds like a 1960's car gearbox whine, only when under load! |

Even ice-creamers make noise? Input shaft bearings sometimes need re torquing? 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..
