Advanced Tow Assist is Working!
After some trial and error and comparing my 110 without Advanced Tow Assist to my wife’s 130 with it I have been able to get this to work. Tested it out again this morning. At this point I am thinking it is a matter of letting it sit in the system for a while and after several sleeps and starts along with a few PIVI reboots it finally took. Here is a list of the changes and then I would suggest being patient as it might not activate immediately.

MultiCAN-579 Tow Assist
Set to Tow Assist 2

MultiCAN-635 Towing
Set to Not Support if not already set to this setting.

MultiCAN-696 ATCM TA2 Switch
Set to Tow Assist 2 feature selection switch not fitted, again if not already set to this.

MultiCAN-793 TA2 Input Control
Set to HVAC rotary.

MultiCAN-795 TA2 Select in FCPB
Set to Rotary used for selection within touch screen.

is there any disadvantage to enabling this in case I was to use it in the future? I have a tow bar for my bike carrier and may occasionally tow a trailer.

There is no real disadvantage in enabling it as it will just sit there and wait to be switched on, it won't interfere with anything by being enabled Thumbs Up Cheers Ian

That's fantastic, thanks for working it out. I'm looking forward to trying it out.

Looks like I was missing "MultiCAN-793 TA2 Input Control"

I would agree with Ian that there is no disadvantage. You also do not have to use it with a trailer either just because it is added to your vehicle. There are steps you have to take to use it and if you don’t it is just like it isn’t there. Have fun.

Hi Patrick.
I was trying to add a new key with the tool. It was not working. You informed me later that the KVM was definitely blocked and therefore had to be changed with a new one.
However I found an established car key company that was able to program the key without KVM change.
Price €200 for the key + €150 for the programming.
I wonder how they did that?

I wanted to transfer the activity key of my previous L663 to my new.
Impossible without a specific KVM + new activity key. Total cost for retro fitting key+kvm + work/progr € 1.047 incl 21%VAT
Crazy for something you can miss most of the time, unless you want to go scuba diving with your key fob.

I found that I can use my waterproof Apple Watch and leave the key and my phone locked in the car.

No idea but is a workaround

What is KVM?
Based on YouTube videos I've seen I thought you could add an activity key using the GapIID tool. Is that not the case?

The KVM is the keyless vehicle module. Land Rover started locking down the KVM to prevent people breaking into cars and using a tool to code a new key to the car and then steal it. But it seems that not all KVM's are locked down eg if you car was only supplied with one key the KVM was left unlocked so that the dealer could add your second key when it arrived. Some of the earlier cars are also unlocked for whatever reasons so that may be one of the videos that you watched. If your KVM is locked that means the IID tool can't add a another key and the dealers Pathfinder system is unable to also, you have to replace the KVM to replace keys. Now I notice above that Brockmoor Howard has had a key added by using an established car key company but I don't know how this company bypassed the 'locked' KVM Confused Cheers Ian

Thanks for the helpful explanation.
I just ordered an activity key a few days ago as I thought it was going to be a simple add. Fortunately I got it for a very good price in case I have to pass it on.

Probably superfluous information for most people, nevertheless extra information never hurts: I wanted to disable my wireless charging pad. Changing MultiCAN-767 Wireless Device Charger to Not Supported OR Not Fitted (I tried both) only disabled the status icon from appearing on the infotainment center screen. The hardware is still functional and still charges your phone. Rolling Eyes
