Petrol tank turned up today.
I’ve ordered a high pressure in tank pump and sender from a rr, apparently I can trim down the legs to get it to fit. If not it’s 300 quid for the genuine item. I’ve ordered a load of fuel hose and clips. Just need to find out what filter I need. I spoke to rpi and they said the sensors would be ok. They will supply a wiring loom, cux ecu, 2 lambda sensors, air flow sensor and a few bits for the tank. He assures me I should be able to get it running relatively easily. Steve. |

Gamble paid off.
Range Rover fuel pump is an exact fit. And only 30 quid. With locking ring and gasket. Click image to enlarge |

Missed this progress - the 14 CUX is pretty simple - makes life much easier.
Have you got the skid-plate/cradle for the tank? I'm hoping it's here because the rear anti-roll bar should mount to it. JB @Lodelaner Instagram Youtube greenlaning and other LR related content |

I’ve got the mounting plate but no rear torsion bar. Just the a frame.
Should it be different? Steve. |

Don’t appear to have the mounting brackets for the rear torsion bar. They haven’t been cut off so assuming they weren’t there from day one.
Mot tomorrow. Wish me luck! My only worry is the tank mount and the rust on it. Hopefully just an advisory. Lots of parts turning up so if all goes well and the weather is good, I reckon I can have it back on petrol this weekend. Got 6 days off now so will be powering through it. Gotta love the optimism Oh. And a new set of bump stops fitted this eve. Steve. |

Good luck!
I guess you do have torsion bar mounts on the rear axle? The bar mounts to the fuel tank cradle inboard of the chassis. I have a photo somewhere. JB @Lodelaner Instagram Youtube greenlaning and other LR related content |

Mot passed with no advisories.
And I’ve ran it out of gas. At the bottom of the street as luck would have it. Me and a few mates pushed it onto the drive. Going to start ripping out tomorrow. Oh. The new boots look good as well. Thanks for the advice on the sizing. Click image to enlarge |

Mot tester said he had seen defenders 10 years younger with worse rust underneath.
I will post some progress pics up tomorrow on the rip out. To say I’m excited about this is an understatement. It’s so good to be back under a defender. I can’t think of anywhere I’d rather be. Steve. |

Went for yokohama geolander AT in the end.
Look nice. And it will be a road car with the occasional soft Green lane so didn’t want anything too aggressive. Drives really nice, even with the lift. But will be so much better when I get it back to standard. I’m off to pick up some standard radius arms next week. Can somebody be so kind as to post a pic of their suspension set up please? The front torsion bar has some spacers on it. I’m wondering if they were fitted because of the lift and should be removed when I put back. I’ll post a pic tomorrow when it’s day light. Thanks. Steve.
