Funnily enough - one of mine came off in my hand this week due to bi-metal corrosion from over 12 years by the sea side
I ordered on in from John Craddock and it was the same as the original one - took 10 mis to swap over and now toying with the idea of changing the other one later in the year ... Never had a problem with these from a security point of view but have internal window grills fitted for the camper set up anyway ... so one of those ‘layers' to slow down possible issues  Poppy - TDCI (Puma) 110XS 2.2 - Camper conversion - see the build here - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic56530.html

To be honest i hadn't thought about security for those latches and i did recently change the exterior aluminium blocks as mine had weathered badly.
It was only today as i stopped to chat to a neighbour that has a load of defenders out front that mentioned those rear latch windows you can open a particular way that got me thinking about it. Ill spend some time googling, i dont have any grills on my windows if i can avoid them too id like to be grill-less  |

So seems like the only product for the slide windows is guards. There is no aftermarket lock mechanism etc that can be installed to add a layer of security to the sliding windows.

Or a bit of wood between the lock and the other glass section of the window? 1999 Defender TD5 110

I have blue box sliding rear side windows on my 110 CSW and they have a completely different catch where one part hooks over the other on the vertical part of the frame.
Not to everyone's taste I know as they don't quite look original but they do look a bit more secure (didn't stop some scrote from breaking the glass and nicking my recovery gear bag mind you). 1995 300 Tdi Epsom Green - It's a keeper. Wide Track Sankey- In bits- Gone to a new home M0XQS |
