Replacement Axles

Hi all,

A question, if I may.

I have a 300tdi 90 that I have decided to sell, as I am not using it. (And I have plenty other projects on the go)
However.. (Isnt there always a however with landrovers!!) The chassis is shot and it is currently sat on a set of Volvo portal axles. I think I will keep the axles, as I might put them under a different project.

The 90 was my off roader, she was well cared for, but life and family has meant its been laid up for a long time.
I have a nice new galv chassis for the 90, and I intend to rebuild it onto the new chassis before I sell it.

So, I need a set of replacement 300tdi axles to go under the 90. I have had a look about and it appears to be silly money for axles that do not look in good condition.
I have been offered a set of 300 tdi discovery axles for a couple of beer tokens, but they have been badly stored and will need a rebuild, which I am happy to do.

Is there any major differences between the defender and discovery axles? If I am replacing all the components, can I order defender stub axles etc and fit them to the discovery tubes?
The rear diff nose is different, being a 3 bolt flange, but that is easily changed. The front will need the steering bits moved about, but other than that, I cannot see much else. The donor discovery was a 1997 vehicle and the 90 is a 1998. Neither vehicle had ABS, so I think it should be a straight swap?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated before I embark on yet another project.

How much would you be after for the truck as it is? I'm looking for a 300TDI as a project as I already have some of the parts that would be needed.
