Maybe l would be better looking for a 2.4 Puma. There's plenty of those about and they're cheaper.
A 2.4 Puma would be far better than a 2.2 Puma for your driving pattern (no DPF ). If you can find a good condition well looked after one with medium to low mileage it will serve you well for many years. Noting as with any classic defender you do need to keep on top of regular maintenance, which is not just a service every 12 months.

Exactly this, especially with a 2.2, but the less desirable factor is in these circumstances it can and will occur it depends on what you need and when, so is a bit of a pain.
Which is why I like the 2.4 more and am of course admittedly bias, but overall shouldn’t be too much of an issue really except the DPF itself is very costly. Chillin In The Backwoods🇬🇧🇺🇸

But the new one has been designed around the DPF and it's known not to give issues.
The 2.2 Ford engins are also designed around the DPF
Injectors EGR DPF really are reliable.
The only issue, I do really see, is that you can't buy a new one like your 2022 Defender. A 10 year old truck is perhaps not the best choice for professional use
