Diff lock engaged or not ?
Tried to use the diff lock last night but the light in the dash did not come on, how do I tell if it’s engaged or if the light isn’t working
Thanks

Jack it up at one end only and see if you can turn the prop when diff lock is supposed to be engaged. If you cant, its working. Make sure the handbrake is off and main box is in neutra

This happened to me ans it was just the sensor switch had failed. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Jack up a wheel.

Gbox neutral

Turn wheel it should rotate.

engage diff lock lever

Wheel will turn a fraction then lock up if diff lock is working. Cheers

Moving the lever preloads a spring which pushes the diff lock collar when the 2 halves of the diff are aligned. The lever does not directly engage the diff lock!

There needs to be movement between the 2 halves to allow the alignment and then the engagement.

When driving this can most easily be accomplished by turning left or right which will cause the front wheels to travel at a different speed to the rear and align the 2 halves.

Likewise if the diff lock will not dis engage, driving rear wards or left or right will release the pressure and allow the 2 halves to separate.

Follow the linkage down to where its fitted to a spur on top of the t box, turn the 13mm nut all the way to ensure its fully over on top of the box. Assuming linkage is all connected and not fouling a bolt head. Cheers
