Oil misting on air filter
I've tried to Google/Search for an answer, but nohting really says it in black and white. Lots of catch-cans being fitted, "engine rebuild"...... Exclamation

My 2001 10p TD5 runs really nicely, c108k on the clock and has had a rebuild in the past by Juice Motors... but I do find that there's oil misting to the airfilter, on the intake/concertina side/clean side.

Seems a bit odd to me, but guess better than the MAF/Turbo side ?

Any help greatly appreciated.

The air box only pulls air from the outside world and not recirculated from the engine ( unlike my Turbo Diesel that would make a real mess of the air filter and the common fix would be to disconnect the breather so that it was directed towards the chassis).

At a very rough guess you could check first that the air filter installed isn’t actually an ‘oiled’ filter like a Piper Cross or K&N, other wise take out the inlet pipe and give it a wash in soapy water, dry and replace.

Apart from that I can’t see how oil could get to the filter.

Thanks for the info, looks like I've been looking at TDI and not TD5 info previously.

I have found this diagram, which confirms the only engine>intake connection is after the airbox and MAF/MAP sensors.
