You’ll need the codes read to find out what they are. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

You can get a cheap ELM327 spec code reader and an app such as torque on your phone for less than the cost of getting a garage to read the code for you.

This will not only allow you to read codes but also clear them when issues rectified.

Once you have read the diagnostic trouble codes (DTC’s) you can post them on here and members will be able to advise on things to check.

It’s likely the EGR valve stuck open or closed, keep a record of the DTC code if you have cleared it.

It’s likely to come back without EGR replacement or cleaning.

If it was stuck open you’ll likely find out by poor performance, if it’s stuck closed then performance might even be better but you’ll get the amber dash light.

If you don’t already, consider running with standard diesel and millers diesel additive permanently.
It might then sort it out, if not, and it comes back cleaning or replacement it’s the way to go. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

If yours is a 2.4 then removal and cleaning or replacement of the EGR is fiddly but a relatively simple process. If it’s a 2.2 it’s a far more fiddly process as you need to remove coolant hoses from the valve and the bolts , studs and nuts are very hard to get at.
