I have double checked the official instructions Land Rover provides.
They also suggest to remove the wheels and arch liners. Having done the job it’s probably a good idea. It will definitely give you more room to reach the bolts to tighten them. The fixing plate coming with the flips has got 4 holes of which only 2 are used to keep the flap in place. The confusion comes from the 3 holes in the flap and 3 bolts provided in the kit. It’s definitely a design flaw however the instruction clearly state to use only 2 bolts. |

Out of curiosity, are mud flaps required/regulated equipment in the UK and/or EU? 2022 Defender 110 SE P400 Tasman Blue Expedition and Cold weather package
