Brake light not responsive
Hi all,

My brake light isnโ€™t responding when i brake. The light it self is working as they light up when dim and full beam are activated. Ive check the earth point on the RHS of the transfer box, that is in order.

Any help would be much appreciated

Have you checked the switch on the brake pedal, and obviously the fuses.

There are two filaments in the bulb.

Have you checked CJB Fuse 13?

Remember also that there are two switches associated with the brake pedal, only one of which operates the brake lights. Make sure if you do change a switch that you change the right one.

You might find it worth reading this thread which demystifies - slightly - the strange wiring associated with the 2.4 Puma brake lights.

Switch or grounding probably, try a new switch, test the live and ground.

Unlikely to be a ground problem since the tail lights apparently work correctly.

Iโ€™m not surprised switches do wear considering the amount of use they get, same with the clutch switch as well.
Considering that they tend to last quite a long time, Iโ€™ve not had to replace the brake switch (yet), but just one clutch switch. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

FIXED. Brake switch(right hand side) replaced with genuine LR. The one i took of was a aftermarket one. I think the original was replaced 2 years ago - going on the MOT report of brake lamp failure
