OP have you adjusted the steering box on the top nut? Just a quick fix no parts needed but there's a 17mm lock nut and a torx bit on top of the box if you clean it up and make a mark on the the adjusting screw undo the lock nut turn it no more than quarter of a turn but Id recommend half that then tighten the lock nut down that might help but don't go to mad as it can affect the seals/box just a small adjustment is needed. 110 Td5 Ex Utilities slowly converting into a pop top camper one day

(Steering box yes is adjusted and appropriate ball joints on order. ) Sold the much modified 110 2.8, in Oz
Brought the 90 home from Switzerland ...

Did you get the steering sorted in the end? I ask because I had a similar issue and despite trying all the usual things it was actually fixed by getting the wheels aligned properly. I’d had it done previously by a tyre place but it still felt ever so slightly off so I went to a motorsport specialist with experience of Land Rovers and they found my rear was out of true. Now it drives perfectly and there is no play in the steering. WARNING.
