Puma 2.2 metal in sump
Below are some pics of a piece of metal that came out on the sump plug when changing the oil. Does anyone have any ideas what it could be? There was no swarf and the oil was last changed about 2000 miles ago with nothing unusual. Truck rubs absolutely fine.

Looks like a head to block locating dowel. They can’t get out whilst engine is assembled though

For a peace of mind I would compare with TYT500020 or LR004348 Puma 110" SW

Unless someone has had the engine apart then I suspect the dowel has been in their from assembly. Hopefully it’s not missing from the engine, just a “spare “ that the ford kindly left in your sump in case you ever needed it. Rolling Eyes The sump has its own magnet so given you have an aftermarket magnetic drain plug I guess it dislodged from the sump magnet and attached to the plug magnet.

Sorry , having a brain fade today, it’s the gearbox that has a magnet fitted, not the engine sump.

It is a replacement engine done by the previous owner. Not sure of the source but it is a later engine with the screw on type oil filter rather than the insert type. 2013 Baltic Blue 110 Utility Station Wagon XS 2.2

Did you fit the magnet at that last oil change 2000 miles ago? Strange for that dowel to appear now and not then > 110 XS Double Cab

No I’m pretty sure it was already on there and obviously there was nothing on there then. 2013 Baltic Blue 110 Utility Station Wagon XS 2.2
