Puma 2.2 Compatible Oils
Due to another discussion surrounding the limited availability of correct oil for the Puma 2.2 below is a list of oil that meets the requirement of Ford's WSS-M2C-934-B Standard.

NOTE! - This is only applicable to 2.2 Pumas as the earlier 2.4 needs to have the widely available WSS-M2C913-B (or C) standard

All these oils are available in 5W30;

Liqui Molly Top Tec 4500
Millers XF Longlife C1
Shell Helix Ultra Professional
Shell Helix Diesel Ultra
Motul 8100 Eco-Clean+
Mobil Super 3000 Formula C1
Granville FS-M
Castrol Edge Professional C1
Valvoline SynPower ENV C1
Pro Advance PC1050
Fuchs Titan GT1 PRO C-1
Gulf Formula EFE
Carlube Triple R Longlife Fully Synthetic C1
Comma Ecolife
IADA Linus Fully sinthetic C1
AD SC1
Cepsa XTAR ECO TECH CRTD C1
MOTOREX CONCEPT X-C1
CHAMPION OEM SPECIFIC C1

Remember when buying these oils to confirm that they are indeed to the WSS-M2C-934-B standard. Craig Rogers

No good for your Puma! Shocked

You need an oil with an ACEA 'C' category ... The one you used is only a 'B' Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant.

Interesting, thanks!

Do you happen to know exactly what (Make/type etc) oil they fill the 2.2 Puma with at the Factory?

Cheers,

Hi Yolo

The oil spec for the engine is:

5W/30 to ford spec WSS–M2C934–B

Shell: http://www.shell.co.uk/gbr/products-servic...-5w30.html
Mobil: http://www.mobil.com/UK-English/Lubes/PDS/...5W-30.aspx
Castrol: http://msdspds.castrol.com/bpglis/FusionPD...9TBLG7.pdf
Are a few that meet the requirements.

Not 100% sure of the make that they will use in the factory, no doubt it will be bought in bulk and will be budget driven.

Hope this helps

Hi John!

BUMP works!!!

Many thanks... that is useful. I wanted to use the same make of oil that was first used at the factory... probably Castrol according to my local stealer!

I guess I am 'guilty' of being OTT about this! Oil (to the right spec!) is oil!!! And after all, there are thousands of Ford Transit vans being thrashed about the place using probably 'Fish and Chip' oil in the UK!!!

I was planning an oil and filter change on my new Defender earlier than 20k km's... once agin, this is probably overkill!

Makes one feel better... maybe!

Cheers, Pete :>) YOLO... You Only Live Once...

Does anyone know where I can source the right spec oil in Italy?

Will buying it from the dealer be more expensive?

Thanks

Understand the Puma 2.2 has to have this ....934-B oil spec, but can that same oil be safely used also in a Puma 2.4?
Meaning can the Puma 2.4 be fed either of those oils, the one specified for it, as well as the one discussed here for the newer Puma 2.2?

Wonder if all dealers will have barrels of both in stock at all times, or if they use the same for both engines. If you add to this all the oils specified for the other Td5, FFRR, RRS, D4, D3, Freelanders, Eewoks, etc. and their different aged engines they regularly get in their workshop, a main dealer must have a small oil tank farm on his premises.

The main difference between 2.4 and 2.2 oil is the low "sap" rating something to doings with soot in the dpf. If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.

I used to run Edge but now on Helix as per dealer use.
Seems better, but then it's been tuned since.
It does seem smooth though.
