300 TDI Speedo Cable removal (From Gauge)
Hi folk

I'm sure this question has been asked many times but I can't fins the answer!

How do I remove the cable from the gauge please? ... really need working space behind the instrument panel.

I think it had not changed all the way up to 300tdi, but on older LandRovers, you need to press on two sides of the white plastic end so that it ovals, and then it releases itself. You need to press on the correct sides though. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Thanks Dinnu

Yep that worked! Smile Sadly could not do it with my hands so had to use a pair of slip pliers (jaws padded).

All the best

Don't know if the connection on the back of the speedo is the same as earlier vehicles but this is why I loved my 2-piece speedo cable so much.
You break the connection under the bonnet and that allows you to pull the cluster off a bit further and gives you more room to remove it from the back of the speedo. ONE LIFE, GET IT!

Hi Litch ... Sounds an excellent idea but sadly my cable is a one piece unit.
