A Frame (V frame?)
Still with the chassis swap, I am moving the rear axle A frame from the old to the new chassis.
The 2 legs are attached to the chassis with thick bolts, which I have now removed.
The nuts have a strange clip attached to them which briefly seemed to serve to stop the nuts from turning but quickly got mangled.
Can I remove these clips and reuse the nuts without them?

Yeah those are a sort of locking mechanism like a nyloc but with metal. Think they are "all metal locking nuts"...

Like this - https://www.accu.co.uk/aerotight-nuts/4982...j5EALw_wcB

One use only like nylocs Thumbs Up

I know what you mean, yes you can use an ordinary nylon nut,it just makes them easier to assemble with the retaining clip. They do break very easy when you undo them and the threads have a bit of corrosion.

I'd still be interested to see what you had, your description is intriguing! Could they have been Oddie stiff nuts?

Aerotite nuts are generally superior to Nylocs in almost every respect, but are harder to obtain and significantly more expensive, but your description doesn't make me think Aerotite.

Nylocs will do what you need.

The nut is just a nyloc it has two fingers each side that stop it spinning when you tighten it, it’s an assembly line speed up. Fitted to the models without the “crows feet” brackets. I can take a picture tomorrow if you really want?

Interesting, thanks. Never seen one with those before, and I can think of no reason why they're necessary.

They’re only on the ones with the brackets incorporated into the chassis, as far as I know they’re to speed up production as there’s no need for anyone to hold them or mess about with spanners.
