Rear 90 mud flaps - basic question
I am new to the land of defenders and need to sort some rust out on one of the mud flaps. The bracket is held on with 3 nuts - are the studs captive in the cross member, or do I need to get a spanner inside there?

I can check by loosening the nut, but if they aren’t captive they won’t be easy to tighten!

Hi, in my case it was both, some were clinch nuts and some normal nuts.
Once I got them off I replaced them all with clinch nuts.

It wasn’t so easy to remove them as they were old and rusty

captives when new, nowadays it may have nuts n bolts or self tappers.

if rusted they will spin. or shear off

if so, cut the heads of and drill out and fit new rivnuts with lots of copper ease to allow them to come out in the future

Thanks. It sounds like a WD-40 or Plusgas soaking overnight is needed first.
