1998 Defender 110 300 Tdi HT Chawton White
Filler Necks
Hello.

Have a 300tdi and original tub from 1998. Updating and changing tub to a 2004 one and noticed the fuel fillers are different.
My 1998 one doesn’t fit. Modify to make these work? Or purchase correct one? If I ouchrse will rest of the pipe work match up?
Thanks

I went the opposite way and during a chassis replacement fitted the later (Td5 onwards) plastic tank with the smaller neck. I had to cut a support plate to reduce the diameter of the tub opening to match the rubber neck support ring.

I guess in your case you just need to cut out the opening hole of the new tub to match the old tub?

When I built my 110 (Td5) but with an earlier rear tub.

I used the older filler unit (so I could keep the jerrycan pull out tube...dead handy!) and made the pipework fit the Td5 tank.

Can't remember what I did now though.

There seems to be quite a few variations across the years - even on the same vehicle?. Rgds.

Thanks everyone I think going to open the hole up to take my current fitting as I think they work better than the plastic ones
