A pricey fix but a much better end result is to fit the Gwyn Lewis Sumo bar kit
Had the same issue and fitted the kit on the drive, great upgrade 2016 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 TDV8 2010 110 XS Utility 2.4TDCI 2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 (gone) 2007 Discovery HSE TDV6 (gone) 1993 110 csw 200 tdi (gone) 1994 90 HT 300 tdi (gone) 1994 discovery 300tdi (gone) 90 hybrid 3.5 v8 (gone) Range rover bobtail 3.5 v8 (gone) |

I had exactly the same problem with what looks like it may be the same yellow-painted make of damper. The metal insert of the bush was a millimetre or two too large. Turned out there was nothing wrong with the old one after all, but my plan had been to carefully grind down the insert. Wasn't confident in my skills to get a good finish, mind.

Yes you can drive without one, and you shouldn’t notice a massive difference if the rest of the steering system is ok, and especially if your old one is knackered.
I’m in Herts near Essex and if you want pop over and I will grind a few mm off the centre bush. |

Had the same with OME steering damper. Just grind the metal insert and it will slot in the bracket. Should be a snug fit anyway as when tightening the bolt it should lock both faces of the bracket against the metal insert.
