lol yes a unicorn I may have to chat to whitbread and get one custom made as his windscreen mounts are to far out, I would rather a closer fit like the Safety devices version 2008 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold)

Prices look reasonable at Whitbread if we can get them to do a SD style roll cage group buy?
They are running about £1800 fitted as per their website and are based in a nice part of Wales! 2008 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold) 2015 Discovery 4.5 Black pack Firenze red XS 2008 Corris Grey 110 XS USW (sold) 2011 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold) |

As Protection and performance have been bought by Safety Devices, there are a distinct lack of roll cage manufacturers out there. Whitbread cages as said above don't follow the lines of the body very well and don't fit very tight to the roof so tend to look like a climbing frame unfortunately.
May be worth speaking to blackbird industries to see what they could do for you but bespoke fabrication would come at a price. Jon |

Whys that JST?
Spoke to whitbread today and if there is a minimum order of 5 cages, he will look at modifying his cage to fit closer very much like the Safety devices. So anyone game for it? 2008 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold) 2015 Discovery 4.5 Black pack Firenze red XS 2008 Corris Grey 110 XS USW (sold) 2011 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold) |

I'm intrigued at the comment about also.
I've been considering a roll cage for a while and would be interested in a 'group' discount? Would be good to expand on why (albeit) one user on here would not use? https://www.whitbread-offroad.co.uk/roll_c..._wagon.php £1815 fitted with the ability to add extra roof and window bars. An e-mail I fund for P&P to fit the cage in 2018 it was £2400 plus vat.... Is their a massive difference between the two? |

Stacey, that cost aspect interested me as well. One should never put dollars before safety, but sometimes it’s unavoidable, if given purchases are ‘like for like’.
SD cages have rocketed in price, no less so here post Brexit and with Trussenomics. As mentioned on another post, now over 3000€ NOT including delivery or fitting, which take it to an eye watering 4000€. I can actually drive back to the UK, drop of the DC, have a pint and fish n chips, stay in a nice pub, visit family and drive back, for about 1500€ less than total in France. I have no issue as some have mentioned, about getting into a garage, I also don’t see myself taking the thing on and off, so single piece and welding are not an issue. Further I have always been looking at the 6-point not 8-point SD cage. So on balance, I can’t see why the Whitbread would be hugely different (from a strength POV) for its intended use. I’m not heading on ops, I’m not doing competition level off roading like the Baja 1000. So where does the difference lie? Can there be that much difference between the two when being used solely for an on-road, one time, extreme case protection? Would emergency services use them if they were noticeably weaker? The one thing that does affect my choice, as with many on here, is the profile. I don’t want something that’s bloated and sits higher, wider and more proud than the SD version, when it clearly doesn’t need to. If this could be addressed, (and it seems it can) this would make a huge difference to my choice and tip the balance in favour of Whitbread, assuming there’s no proven, and glaring, difference between it and SD when it comes to strength and protection. As for whether it looks kosher for resale, that’s not an issue for me. First as I have no intention of selling the DC, second as were I ever forced to, I’d just provide receipt and photos during fitting. So, keen to hear an answer from JST and with regard to a group buy, if what I hear doesn’t terrify me, then I’m in. Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

Grenadier, are there issues on the continent with type approval etc though for after market accessories such as roll cages?
My brother had one fitted to his 110 DC in Switzerland. SD were able to supply the required documentation with regards to specs etc and it was eventually cleared. Not sure if other manufactures supply that level of documentation around testing etc. Just a thought. |
