DAB Reception lost when ignition is on
Earlier this year I installed a JVC M745DBT double din unit into my 09 Puma - worked ok but DAB reception. Kept dropping. Read on here that there was a fault with earlier models of this unit and fair play to Halfords they swopped it out for a more recently manufactured unit .

So new unit in, DAB when no ignition fantastic, with ignition/engine on ‘no signal’ but FM and Carplay all ok

So checked the threads on here and...

1) Nothing plugged into cig lighter
2) `Tried different aerial that I simply plugged in and attached to roof - same problem
3) Wired neg directly to battery - same problem
4) Change aerial splitter - same problem

Now at a loss, JVC Customer service saying unit has to be ok as works with engine off

Any ideas on what I can try next? - All help appreciated

So at a loss -

Is it possible you’re getting interference from something that only comes on with the ignition? Something along the lines of LED daytime running lights Charlie

many thanks for the replies - DRL’s may be an option, though they do come on in second ignition position (glow plug) and radio works but will do a full test at the weekend - unfortunately no dash cam or USB chargers though. If its not the unit then it must be electrical interference and lights are my best bet.

It was DRL’s, a couple of RF chokes on the DRL loom and we have a signal - thanks all!

I've had this issue ever since I've had DRLs. When you say RF Chokes what did you use and where?

Thanks 2008 Defender 110 XS SW - M57N2 / 6HP28X

Ferrite Ring Cores - you clip them over the cable as close to the ‘source’ in this case DRL as you can - link to Amazon below - hope that helps

Resurrecting this thread…I have just collected a 12 plate puma with a Pioneer dab radio. As soon as the headlights are used the signal disappears . The aerial is unfortunately a stick on glass affair, which is not helped as the front screen is heated. But with headlights off it works ok, bar the ott complexity of the Pio unit.
I’m assuming that the cure will be ferrite cores close to the unknown make led headlights?

Thanks
