I'd hazard a guess (see what I did there?) that 3d printing would be the only way to get such a thing as there's no need for a blank in normal circumstances. A cheaper option than buying your own printer could be some thick plasticard and some time with a craft knife. Darren

Actually in the interval since posting I think I have found the answer...
I remembered that the Rover 100 uses the same switch, identical in every respect. Pre-owned Defender switches are about £45 on eBay, pre-owned Rover 100 switches are £13. I don't mind spending £13 on a "switch blank", £45 was a bit much though. |

My hazard switch (in the factory location) is behind the flip screen of my ICE system when the latter is open. I have in mind moving the switch using one of the new Mud panels but don't want to leave a hole in the original location. Simples! |

^^^^ That is the only little niggle of the flip out screen is the hazard switch behind, I tend to keep my screen as close as I can but just enough to reach behind if I had to.
Regards the Rover switch that’s ideal and a great find!, I would imagine common supply via Lucas. (Between LR and Rover). Amongst other things. I seem to remember the switch face has little ‘tangs’ on the side edges that lock the face onto the assembly but I’ve never tried to disassemble as I’ve not had reason to. Unless I’m thinking of the smaller switches. I think they tend to be laser etched or printed, I guess you could use a vinyl wrap but would probably not last or get damaged with wear after a while. But if not used and as a blank then maybe fine and if it’s a cheap switch perhaps it can be superglued or hot glued so that it is static and cannot be then pressed. I guess a piece of nylon or similar material could maybe plastic welded in but I wouldn’t recommend it as it might crack then you’d need to paint after and things like that. I would be quite tricky and values of the centre dashes it would be my least favoured option. The trouble is there is a bit of flex often that occurs when removing or refitting so a blank is a better idea. Good find indeed though the Rover switch, I know when I looked at the LR ones some time ago I thought hmmm, that is a price for a single switch! $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

For simple parts, of which already have one to copy, I use polyester resin, fiberglass and fillers.
Make the mold from your existing part, and then make the part itself. I also like to add graphite powder to the resin so can tint from a grey to almost black colour. The first landrover parts I did this way were the center caps for the alloy wheels, as they were something like €20 each here costed less than €4 in material. The most complex part I have done so far is the binnacle. I know there are good aftermarket alternatives, but I want more the original look. Buying a plastic replacement meant that it would crack and fall apart after a couple of years. Being fiberglass, it will last a lifetime. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |

Usually I'm not too worried about covering the hazard switch, in 45 years of driving I think I've used hazard lights twice and never when it's been urgent to turn them on, but every year at MoT time I have thoughts of moving it so I can leave the main reversing camera screen open when presenting the car.
The other switches it obscures (heated front screen, headlamp washers, etc are more important to me but there's little point sorting out some but not all, and the Mud panel has the space for the hazards. I might contact Mud to suggest they make a blank, I'm not the only person who has a flip screen. |

Some companies do welcome suggestions for parts BW so might be a good idea.
D44 might be another to mention it too maybe. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

I also had to fit a blank Hazzard Switch in my defender after fitting a flip up Head unit. I purchased a Rover 100 switch (about £5) and painted it up grey. I actually used a Mudstuff console and fitted a Discovery 2 Hazzard switch along with the re located traction control and fog light switches.
The disco 2 switch had to be modified and I also made a special relay unit to convert the original electrical function of the hazzard switch. All three switches then fitted correctly on the mudstuff console within a switch holder. 2015 90 XS Santorini Black |

In the end I simply blacked the old switch (which I found was cracked anyway, and the illumination bulb had failed) with a black Sharpie and used a Rover Metro switch in the new Mud panel. Works a treat, and the Sharpied switch blends well with the random assortment of blacks and greys used by the factory on the dash.
I can at last squirt my headlights without having to shut the flip front. |

Lucky you. Over here on the Autobahn it's needed ever so often to indicate the tail of a traffic jam. Close by is the "Autobahn of death", the A2, where in 2018 there where 1000+ accidents with 24 fatals - that's 10 times more than the average. Although this has improved since, I wished all cars and lorries had an automatic traffic-jam-ahead feature which switches on the hazards and reduces speed. |
