Hi Co1 - based off your experience, do you thing there are any benefits to having one option or the other when it comes to the format of the iLX-705D chassis? Looking for the easiest option for install.

I’m pretty sure the DM won’t fit due to the clock and heater ducts.

Hi all
Anyone tried one of these in a TD5 era Defender in one of Mudstuff's double DIN facias? Looking for a new headunit with reverse camera functionality etc for the 130 Cheers Ben |

I've ordered it to give it a try, does it come with a mounting frame / facia or will I need to get one ordered along with the bits from mudstuff?
Cheers |

Where did you get this kit please? I have a county so think I can get away without fitting the aux panel if I can reduce the hazard button size. |

From Martin. The site owner, his shop is the one linked to at the top of the page - though the shop is partially closed due to parts availability in the current climate.
Worth sending a PM. |

Not the best photo as it was dark when I was finishing the install, but yes it will fit a td5
You need the din cage/surround from mudstuff as well along with the double din facia. De-pinned any unneeded wiring as it's pretty tight. Click image to enlarge |

Hi! I am new to this forum, so forgive me if I am asking questions that have been answered elsewhere. I am about to fit an Alpine iLX-705D to my 110 XS MY 2015 together with an alpine HCE-2100RD rear view camera. I have the double din dash plus aux kit etc and have the standard LR Alpine BT head unit with alpine subwoofer. I would welcome some help on the following from those of you who have gone through the same/similar upgrade
1. Where is the best location to position the GPS antenna (ideally under the dash)? 2. Where is the best location to splice in the reverse light cable? 3. Where is the best location to splice in the handbrake cable? I note the activation via settings comments and the removal of not required cables from the alpine supplied looms but would welcome any other appropriate advice Thanks in advance |

1. I placed it under the dash, on top of the plate that holds the heater ducts in position in the centre.
2. At the reverse light. 3. Didn’t bother. |

Thanks for your reply and noted. Two final questions (promise!):
1. Where did you route the cable from the reverse light back to the head uni? 2. Where did you splice into the HU cable, in the dash? |

1. I ran it back with the reverse camera wiring.
2. Not sure what you mean. If you mean for reverse trigger then yes, there is a core in the loom to connect this to. I did it behind the HU. |

Thanks. Sorry did not pose Q2 very well but you answered it for me! As for Q1 where did you route your reversing camera cable? I have yet to fit my reversing camera but think it will sit above the rear washer nozzle. I had a plan to run the cable in the headlining, then drop down one of the door supports. Is there a better routing?

Mine goes up a door pillar, pulled back roof trim headlining sufficent to push it in then onto the back where mine drops down to the number plate light but to put it above rear washer I would go same route Searching for my first Defender...and started just as Covid hit, so talk about timing.
5 months after starting the search I found it, and here is the details |
