flywheel help - plus modified flywheel idea
Advice please! I'm rebuilding my 110 ROW 300TDI in the Caribbean. Parts are a mission to get, especially heavy items! I'm converting it to EV (don't get mad I still have a second diesel 110)
I'm bolting the motor to the Gbox - transfer box and it will all be reversible in the future if it all goes ti*s

1: My current flywheel has lots of hairline cracks, has had for years! Question - how dangerous or risky is it to keep using it? Getting a new on here is tres expensive.

2:are there any lightweight flywheels manufactured for a 300? it's going to be EV so having extra mass is a negative really - electric motor has lots torque + it will mostly stay in 3rd anyway. I know theres alloy ones made for the early v8 range rover (made by Fidanza) that are compatible with v8 9.5 inch clutch (459733 part number) Can a v8 clutch and flywheel be fitted to 300 box?

You may face the flywheel and see if the cracks are only surface deep, I believe there are specs on minimum thickness... but that is to make it work with the designed engine. EV is a different story. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Why do you need a flywheel are you keeping the clutch plate to drive the gearbox?

If you do need one you may get a flywheel at a reasonable price from LOF DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy

Hi, yes keeping it all original minus the engine, want to retain high and low and gear changes etc, also I can't afford to go Tesla or custom transfer box. I'm bolting straight to the gearbox, all reversible.

lighter the flywheel the better. Can a v8 9.5 inch clutch fit a 300 tdi? if so there's aloy flywheels out there!
