I'll be sure to post it up. I've just ordered the shadow foam so if I forget something after its all cut and laid out I'll be more than a bit annoyed Rolling with laughter

The cut out foam is a great idea. With the foam you always know if you have packed everything away or not. Cuts down on the possibility of leaving something under the vehicle or even worse in the engine bay! 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Good point. Someone should have told the JLR dealer's apprentice about it, before he forgot this spanner on my brake Evil or Very Mad I drove 20 minutes with this. Luckily I don't trust people who charge too much for their work, so I had a look underneath. Brake fluid splilled all over the place Rolling Eyes

Just finished my spanner list. Have combined suggestions from the forum, a couple of other forums, Tom Shepperd's list and a couple of YouTube videos as well as checking the vehicle. Obviously this isn't every singlee spanner needed, rather its the most common and critical ones. When in doubt about whether an odd size was needed I searched for "Puma Defender XXmm spanner" and quickly found some weird sizes in use in critical areas. Quite a few posts from @Blackwolf too saying that Land Rover used a lot of non-common sizes on the Puma.

Here's the list:

Combination spanners:

8mm
10mm
11mm (brakes)
12mm
13mm
14mm
15mm
17mm
19mm
9/16"

Adjustable spanner:

8" long adjustable

Sockets:

These would obviously match the spanners except for:

- The 9/16" as I'll use my Difflock prop shaft tool to work with that spanner.
-My 52mm hub nut socket doesn't need a spanner
-An 8mm fixed Allen key type socket for MT82 drain and filler plugs
-I have a 1/2" square drain plug socket for axle filler/drain and transfer box drain (I know I can use the 1/2" wheel brace I have but I prefer to use a tool instead of using a bare 1/2 extension or handle - the one I have is driven by a 3/8" ratchet so it means I can have all the sockets in 3/8")

A lot of people have mentioned packing a 1/4" drive socket set too. I actually have a little set in a box that I could donate to the car, but am curious as to why? 6 or 7mm would be handy for hose clamps but I can't think of any other reason to carry a full set of 4-13mm 1/4" sockets... plus the ratchet... plus extensions. Any thoughts?

Maybe since 1/4" drive rachets are slimer / smaller headed they can access fittings in a tight location with less strain on the hand due to being lighter? Zaid-M

So the five on the right are
Tx 10 - used for stop screws in the channel rails of our camper conversion
Tx 15 - I replaced various of the original Pozi screws with Torx headed ones
Tx 20 - replaced some of the push-through pins of wheel arch eyebrows and inner trims with Torx head screws, too
Tx 30 - many screws of panels and trim
Hex 4 - forgot what this was for, but must be important enough to have it included Embarassed

thank you very much for checking these.

More tools pulled out of the spares and more ordered. Going to take a couple of weeks but should be a nice little kit.

not a bad shout at all, thank you

I'll get the primary tools together (about 70% of them are here now, the rest to follow in the next couple of weeks) and will post up pics for a final verdict before I commit with the shadowfoam.

Based on experience of having it happen to me, may I suggest having two 13mm open-ended spanners - for the clutch pedal locknuts.

Yes, I had them come loose, in France, towing the caravan in rush hour Lyon traffic. It is merely a coincidence that I’d had a new clutch fitted by a main dealer just days before. Apparently…

I didn’t have two 13mm spanners, just one, so threadlock came to the rescue… Dave

2 x 9/16 spanners also, for prop nut/bolts, it can come in real handy to take a prop off if needs must (UJ crapping itself, for instance)!
A 14mm will work, but not ideal.
