I hope they work for you Screbble. They don't go through as tight as a quality tap but I suppose that means they are less likely to cause damage. I have noticed that the cheaper tap sets seam tighter when cleaning a thread out and I do wonder if this could be damaging the thread, which is the reason I have always been reluctant to use them.

The thread chasers are also a bit like a plug tap so will clean the depth of the thread in a blind hole (my quality taps tend to be firsts as I can tap a lot of new holes so the lead-in is important as they tend to be through holes). The chasers also are used with a socket or spanner so are useful when you don't have the room to rotate a tap wrench.
