2005 Defender 110 2.5 TD DCPU Belize Green
R380 gearbox reverse connector
Hi there.

I've got a replacement reverse switch for the gearbox but yet to fit it as i tested the continuity on the current switch (when in place) and it works fine.

However i've noticed the plug on the switch or the plug on the loom might be at fault... and there's no space to easily replace these...

Does anyone know where a common place these might have failed and what i can do to fix it?

This is on a TD5 2005

Thanks in advance

I don’t know how it may have failed except for the usual contamination by dirt, water or road salt. The connector on the loom is YPC10070 which is the same as the crankshaft speed sensor and many others on the vehicle. If you search Ebay for item number eBay Item No. 143412803593 you will find the plug, crimp terminals and sealing plugs. Should be everything you need to replace the plug if you think it’s causing the fault.

You’re going to have to do some dismantling to get to the loom in order to repair it, probably transmission tunnel out which isn’t too bad a job, just time consuming. Probably easier than struggling to do it at arms length from underneath.
