I saw this and thought of you

Looks to be an alternative to modifying the dashboard to fit a double DIN head unit. Anybody already got one of these? I'm seriously considering it.

I think it would reduce quite a bit of forward visibility. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

I just installed something similar...

Visibility is not a problem. I can change the position/height of the screen.

Interesting. Do you some more details on the device you fitted?

It's a joying 8 inch 1DIN system (https://www.joyingauto.eu). Normally the screen is attached to the unit itself in the 1DIN slot, but I ordered an extra long cable (1M) to be able to mount the screen in a different location. In this case I used a generic RAM mount that I screwed to the back of the screen.

The unit itself is a purely electronic device that does not take up much space (more 1/2DIN). I mounted it a bit more inward so I could fit a cover.

I still need to install the 4G and GPS antennas to get full functionality. I now have TPMS, OBD2, multi-USB, wireless Apple CarPlay and more than I will ever use.
