Very dependent on where you live I'd say also.
Quite fed up of seeing memes like these all over the place though, despite how little love I have for EVs ![]() It really doesn't take much time (ie less than a minute) to work out that a large portion of energy consumption in the UK comes from renewables. And if residing somewhere like Scotland, it's very nearly 100% Stuart ![]() Cummins 130 Build Thread 58 130 Double Cab HCPU - Cairns Blue 04 110 Double Cab - Black (gone) 07 Audi RS4 Avant - Silver |

Lol, agree.
Suits a narrative. Would that be a Coal power station by any chance? Which provided 1.6% of the UK's electricity in 2020 I buy my electric from 100% renewable. For both home and business. |

Didn't you say on a different thread you were with Bulb?
"When Bulb claims to supply renewable electricity ‘wherever possible’, it means just 4% of the time" https://www.goodenergy.co.uk/blog/2021/06/...-the-time/ And then Shell pulled the carpet from under them? |

Whilst your supplier may only provide renewable energy to the grid, what you actually use could have come from any supplier, it’s a massive marketing trick by the providers and at some point recently you will have used energy from non renewable sources no matter what the provider says 👍 |

But I have PVs
![]() Similarly I use Shell. Pay 0.5p a litre more for fuel and they "green wash" elsewhere to offset. From Bulb's website https://help.bulb.co.uk/hc/en-us/articles/...lectricity |

You should do ~ they're empty certificates exploiting a loophole in the regulations: https://indd.adobe.com/view/e5febc9c-8ced-47e5-b376-f97fd51137af What do you think you are buying/funding? It's definitely not this:

Yes - it's an abstract idea, but it's hardly "a massive marketing trick" if the energy you have bought is directly linked to a Power Purchase Agreement. You are paying for the renewable energy to be generated and put into the national grid, who consumes it and where is beside the point - it's the collective good you are doing. |

You would be naive to think that you can buy 100% renewable, without offsetting. I'm aware that people use the opposite argument to justify doing nothing and their position.
Here is the car version. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/industr...tesla-grow I'm pretty sure I can find alternative schemes throughout the industry. Anyway for business use I have a nice certificate on recycled paper that tells me have much CO2 I have saved by buying 100% renewable energy. The Shell one is also an offset scheme which I contribute to. |

And yet here they are: ![]() Click image to enlarge What are you offsetting - you are funding near useless empty certificates bought on a secondary market? ![]() Click image to enlarge |
