Yup, still don't like it. The front is still the same crap it was with the original concept. Doesn't say 'Defender' to me.
Also, are they not planning a longer version? The 110 is clearly the more popular globally. |

+1 I have to admit I agree, despite it growing on me, it still isn't a 'replacement'.....I think I'll hunt for a Td5 SW, then spend some money on a galv chassis and some bits to update it ex-MY1998 Defender 50th GB343 5.0L JE Supersports MY2000 TVR Griffith 500 MY2003 TVR Cerbera SP6 |

I think LR should just copy the Wrangler/cruiser/patrol, like back when they copied the origional Jeep. Improve it to also do agricultural work (google Jeep J eight) relief, military etc. Put round headlights on, detachable plastic to be replaced with a big steel bullbar etc.
THEN have a meeting to decide if it is a real Defender or not. If not, let the legendary, iconic, slow, noisy, comfortable, trusty, agrucultural workhorse die a dignified death and not be produced anywhere else. Then call the new model a whatever. I would hate to see them use the Defender name just to help boost the sales. If they feel it can live up to it, by all means call it a Defender. It is their product after all. I like the new concept, and with minor visual tweaks it might just look the part. I am glad I dont have to do the redesign |

I think you're right in the sense they should definitely look at what Jeep has done with the Wrangler. I'm sure there are purists out there who hate the latest editions, but by and large I think they're great. They speak 'Wrangler' — just improved. There has to be ways LR could do the same. Stick continuous 4x4 on a Wrangler and I'd be veeerry tempted by one of those, instead of a DC100. |

Eurgh... Looks like it's saluting! I quite like it, just not when Defender is mentioned in the same sentence. Land Rover it is (ish), Defender it is not. |

"We are aware of this criticism," said John Edwards, Land Rover global brand director, "but we never intended it [the DC100] to be anything other than a functional replacement for the Defender. This concept is simple, functional, and a useable and abusable product."
On keeping Defender in production after DC100 launch "It is something we are thinking of," he said, "although in principle if the new car does what we want it to do, it [the old Defender model] should go away" http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/motor-...html[/img] |

Making the Defender 'Go away" is something Landrover have wanted to do for a long time.
Is it just me who wishes they would just rename the entire company "Poseurwagons Ltd" or something, and be done with it? 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |
