I went for a Galvanised steel door from Hairymonsterman (Robert) off eBay.
Very well made and a pleasure to deal with. |

The late TD5/Puma rear doors are much better and, physically at least, a straight swap. I fitted one to my old 200tdi 90:
Click image to enlarge There's more detail on the fitting here: https://www.defender2.net/forum/post653755.html#653755 It's worth noting that there's a fundamental difference in the wiring for the rear wiper on post '02 doors, which required a degree of head scratching to resolve. The details of that are here: https://www.defender2.net/forum/post687685.html#687685 A very worthwhile upgrade, though. I went for the old style, just swapped over the glass, wiring, wiper and hardware.

Ditto, put a Puma rear door on my 99 Td5 simple swap and way stronger and better overall. Even sold my old door and covered the cost of the new one 😆 2010 Range Rover MkIII Autobiography Super Charged (Idris)

I have a swing away rear wheel carrier and I think if I go with a Puma door I will do away with the wheel carrier and stick with the later Puma type. 1999 Defender TD5 110

No matter how strong the Puma door is it will still stress the door and frame and crack or warp a bit even when a regular sized spare wheel is bolted to it, especially if you off road.
I kept my swing away when I put the Puma door on mine as I off road frequently and do a lot of back road driving. I also put the Nakatenanga upper door closer and strut thingy on. Great combo. 👍🏻https://www.defender2.net/forum/posting.php?mode=editpost&p=894940 2010 Range Rover MkIII Autobiography Super Charged (Idris) 2003 Range Rover Mk III (Desmond FitzWilliam) 2000 Defender 110 CSW TD5 (CTX) 1992 Range Rover Classic (Lizzy) 1972 Series III 300 Tdi (Stanwood) 1967 MGB GT Every normal man must be tempted at times to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin to slit throats. i always say go for a swing away on these, my old 300 the back door frame be came bent and cracked, due to the weight of the rear spare wheel. laugh was when the car was burnt by two sweet hearts, the door frame held up, but that was after my mate welded it A later rear door was on the cards at the time, due to the door been practically on its last legs. To be fair, I wasn't trying that hard to get a match as the rest of the vehicle had been hastily reapplied over pink If it'd kept it longer then I may have re-painted the whole thing with a brush as I was quite pleased with the finish I managed to get on the doors. Darren

As did I. An immensly strong door with a galvanised frame and a steel one piece skin. They make the later rear doors look weak ! Also meant I could do away with the swingaway rear spare wheel carrier. I'm really glad I took this route. Mo The Land Rover 90 - Many are called, few are chosen. 50 Shades of Pennine Grey |
