If its only for a brew then why not rest it on the wingtop vent and do without any chequer plate/protection? 1985 127 V8 Build Thread

Although I don't have an answer for you question, I bought this kit without a hole

A fair question, but it is also likely to be for accessing the roof if/when I get a rack. |

I've seen those, I am not against the idea but I wanted to go a bit more adventurous! I do like them on other people's vehicles, though. |

UpRoar 4x4 do something different. I have them, not wanting chequer. Not cheap. The right side has a semi circle where the aerial hole is. I decided against having an aerial there when I did my my respray and blingification so cut a circular filler plate after the aerial was removed.

I’ve got the Equipe4x4 bilayer wingtops. I like them a lot and they fit very well. They do them in all black. 2011 130 Utility Body

If money is not a concern, here are two different styles:
swiss: https://www.rough-parts.com/en/foot-plate-wing-alu german: https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=...aerkungen/ I wonder if it's possible to glue a reinforcement of some kind to the underside of wing and bonnet? |

I'd look carefully how the wings are supported towards the bulkhead and whether they would need strengthening before taking that sort of weight. I think these guys used to make a bracket, but can't find it on their site: https://www.nakatanenga.de/en/about-us |

Entreq from Germany do a support bracket if you wanna step on your wingtop.

How dare you. Fair point, though. Thanks for all the suggestions, it's almost surprising there are not more versions of this as they're all relatively similar. I am slightly concerned by those bi-layer versions as I can see mud/dust getting into those and being impossible to remove! I am going to see if I can view those Rough Parts ones in person as they do seem like the kind of thing I'm looking for. |

Sorry, it does read rather rude!
It was meant to be a comment on the value engineering that has gone into the wings over the years. I certainly wouldn't want anyone standing on my wings without additional support. |

I assure that that no offense was taken.
I have owned a Defender of one sort or another for a couple of decades and had no idea there was an issue. Or that a piece of bent plate to address it could cost that much. |
