Hello,

I confirm in 2021 when we originally bought 22-inch rims, the brakes were modified, 380 with six front pistons and 365 with two rear pistons.

Got these from the dealer today but does anyone know if a brake bleed and setup is straightforward on the L663?

Usually not a problem so long as you keep the hoses clamped off and system full of fluid, just normal bleeding procedure Andy

hello, on the Defender it is a problem.....
you must first of all put the braking system , abs in service , using the gap tool or the Land Rover wizard, otherwise you will not purge anything and only errors......on the bcm.
secondly, an economic system would be recommended to put pressure on the system, without this the result is not guaranteed.
I'll give you a summary of the procedure.

The method Linds described sounds much easier Big Cry Hoped myself and Mr Redman could do these some evening and avoid the main dealer. Andy

the job is certainly not simple, this "manual" procedure should (I'm not sure) set the service mode, and give the possibility to bleed the brakes.
to apply pressure I use this economical tool.
I didn't understand one thing..... you already have six-piston brake calipers on your defender, are you replacing them just for the color?

Yes they look really poor un painted. It is just easier and quicker to swap them out. I will perhaps have the current 6 pots powder coated and sell them when removed. Andy

ok, Thumbs Up
the six piston brake calipers contain a lot of oil, when you connect them, before bleeding, fill the oil tank, top it up, wait with the valves open without applying pressure and without the brake pedal until it starts to oil coming out of the valves.

My car is P400S came with 365mm front brake disc and Brembo 4 pot calipers. I’m looking to upgrade to Brembo 6 pots 380mm.

Apart from new 380mm discs and pads. Do I need new hubs and new shims?

Hi Steve, sorry for the delay in replying, I hadn't seen the message, on the 20" rim you can install the 6-piston Brembo calipers and 380 discs, as you can see from the back of a complicated job.

Hi, even for systems with 365 brake discs it is necessary to replace the wheel hubs, alternatively use caliper spacers of about 5 mm, a job that I personally do not recommend, given the workload on the brake caliper.
