Agree standard brakes are fine. Had my 90 HT three weeks and the brakes are perfect! I'd only be upgrading for the looks only. Like the look of the 6 pots, especially the V8 'blue / turquoise' ones.

Is there right there is two size of 6 pot caliper? D300 X dynamic smaller than the X (who has the same size than the V8 ) Thx Cédric |

Hi all, I'm joining this discussion.
I'm Marco, happy owner of a 90, d200, 3.0 d, the car has 26000km and everything is fine, however, reading about front disc deformation problems and seeing that the front calipers are not very attractive, I decided to upgrade the front braking system (for the moment ). The front braking system from chassis M2000001 is composed as follows, front suspension arm equal for all types of brakes, also looking at the discovery V model, all three types of brake (18,19,20") were installed on the same front arm. Click image to enlarge as a demonstration of this same size of the discs and calipers, I also consulted this Brembo table where it can be seen that the thickness/height of the discs is the same on the three types. Click image to enlarge However, there is a difference in the systems.... the hub/wheel bearing on the 20" system is different. however, since the overall dimensions are the same, I think it is a more robust wheel bearing, but not with a different overall size, also because otherwise it would change the track of the car. Click image to enlarge well! Now I concentrated on the caliper, there are two types of caliper with 380mm discs, the one I like is the 6 piston Brembo caliper. I took the code of the blue one as a reference, Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge another thing to consider is the sheet metal protection of the disc, on groupsets 18 it is different from the 19.20", so you have to either replace it or modify it by cutting a rear piece. You also need new caliper bolts, a wear sensor, and two protections on the axle shaft. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge I was lucky, I found two almost new six-piston Brembo calipers, disassembled from a new Range Rover Sport L494, as the customer wanted them red. I bought the original Brembo brake pads (huge!) and now I'm waiting for the 380 mm Brembo discs to arrive. As an update:. Upgraded my front brakes a while back. Now running genuine Brembo 6-Pots - Xenon Blue V8 calipers. My alloys - 20" 5098s Satin Grey. Easy and simple brake upgrade. |

your brake calipers are beautiful.... I only found them black...but on my white car they should be nice! give me some information, the braking is improved or the same, the feeling on the brake pedal the same? I'm participating in the beta test with gap on the id tool, I saw a possibility of modifying the CCF on the front and rear brakes, with an indication of the type of system (18,19,20), I think it acts on the abs pump and brake distributor, you did you change anything? thank you. No difference in brake feel, but suspect stopping distance will be improved, but don't drive fast enough to notice a difference. For me it was more for the look. As I said before the original 4 pots are good brakes.
I note 4-pots still used on D250 with 20" wheel option, but have noticed they fit 6-pots on D250s if you go for 22" wheel option. |

Did you buy the kit from Vulkan?
I am told there is a spacer and spiggot kit required to make the larger brakes fit so not simple plug and play... |
