On my D240 it heats the cabin too and starts the heated front and rear screens - all started from the remote start function on the app.

I had this on my Velar - in the app you could set a temperature and it'd start the engine and get the cabin warm. Is that standard on the Defender or is it an option? Does the Defender also have the tracker?

Yes I remember seeing something on the options regarding preheater. I didn’t tick it.

I have been told by LD dealer as well as LD customer service tech department that all 2 and 3l diesel come with FBH as standard, it kicks in when the outside temperature is below 5c to speed up the heating of the engine coolant. I also took my 3l D200 to a friend of mine who is AA engineer and he also confirms that FBH fitted.

For 1k you can spec a remote key fob and activation for existing FBH which will allow you to preheat the car remotely (with the key fob) using your auxiliary heater rather than the main engine. 3.0L MHVE D200 S Pangea Green+Black Pack

Collected my D300 HSE yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to see it had the auxiliary heater fitted operated by a separate fob. This is in addition to the cabin preconditioning operated by the app. Whilst the vehicle is quite loaded I can’t see, and still can’t see where the separate webasto auxiliary heater is offered as an option on the configurator.
Anyway, I’m happy..it’s like returning to the days of the D3.

£1k sounds pretty reasonable.

You'd struggle to buy a full new webasto kit for much less £1k.

When I had mine retro fitted to my puma, it cost ~£2k all in - worth every penny in my opinion!! 2011 CSW XS 90

Peanutbob- it’s in the options tab on the configurator
It shows it as being operated from a phone but it isn’t it’s a second fob that operates it unless it can be integrated - in some markets it’s is a standard fitting and the option is an engine block heater instead.

Thanks for clearing that up! I thought auxiliary heaters were a thing of the past with LR vehicles… but it’s quite nostalgic have it back!
Out of curiosity I wonder when the auxiliary heater is fired up which I think used to occur at temps less than 4 deg c, whether the remote start still operates as well. With both going the vehicle will be warm fast!

Possibly but your fuel tank will not get you as far…… I only have the standard fit heater that you set from the app and that uses 0.5ltr running the car’s engine to heat the car over 30 minutes….. also will the optional heater still start if the engine is already running? Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

Probably not….I suppose if the heater is fired up first and then the remote start operated this will stop the auxiliary running ..

Unlocking the doors or opening the tailgate will also stop the one controlled from the app as well Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

Interesting the comment about all diesels having the FBH installed as standard. And that the £1k extra you have to pay for the preconditioned cabin heating is effectively just a feature on the remote app that gets unlocked. Is that really the case?

I’ve ordered the cabin heating option on mine, but thought it meant the a physical FBH would be added, not just a feature unlocked for something that was already present.

Sounds like an opportunity for a hack further down the line that will allow more people to add the feature if they want, without having to have a FBH and all the headache that would entail installed… Defender 90 HSE 250D 2022MY - Gave up after two failed orders

No the £1000 optional one has its own remote controller, the configurator is misleading Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

Thanks. Is it the same heater though? And the £1k buys you the remote control of it?

Not that it makes too much difference to my order as I’ve specc’d that option. Just curious about how much extra hardware it buys. And I guess others could be interested in the possibility of adding a third party remote in the future, if that’s all it needs.
