2008 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Stornoway Grey

Ignition switch replacement

Fitted a new genuine LR steering lock and ignition switch unit to my 2008 2.4 Defender. Before replacing the unitI I could turn the key wait for the glow plug light to go out before turning the key further to start the engine. Now when I turn the key the engine starts straight away. Is this normal for the later design of ignition switch?

On my 2013 Puma the ignition switch acts as your original switch, so something seams wrong. Check your wiring to the switch, you may have connected it wrong.

Was it a miss wiring issue ?

Yes swapped the white/red and white/orange wires over. Knew I should have gone to Specsavers.
