Agreed. I’m working on the assumption that 5% is available for the 3.0.

I built a HSE 110 3.0L L633 on CarWow and the best I was offered was a 1% discount. The one dealer (out of the 5 who quoted) sent me several messages and I responded by asking for a 6% discount. They responded in a shocked manner pointing out the “It’s a newly released vehicle!”
In response I sent them a screen shot of The Drive the Deal 5% offer and have never heard from them again.....🤣 Jim |

I've been pondering a change of vehicle for a while now and drivethedeal has produced better offers than carwow. Even when there was a huge manufacturer contribution, drivethedeal secured further discount on top of this which carwow dealers did not.
I've also seen 30% discount when Mercedes were clearing out stocks of the 2020 S-Class. Something which needs to happen with 2020MY pre-built stock IMO. Rather than asking £62K for a 2020MY First Edition D240. |

Its only time - and those vehicles will have to drop - because they will just age - sat in the showrooms..
But likely they will all be preregistered and sold as used - with some sort of rebate or incentive from LR to the dealers. |

I sent my spec around to about 5 dealers, some responded as above, but I managed to get about 5% off in the end. |

We got 10k/32% off our 69 reg Karoq. It was registered Dec 19, bought it del miles end of June when lockdown #1 slackened off enough. Haven’t seen anything similar percentage-wise. If any LR dealer is reading this ............ |

I don’t think they want to discount them and I don’t think any owners want them discounted.
What I want to see is old JLR, long delivery times etc that keeps prices higher...it’s in no ones interest for discounts and prices to drop off a cliff. Talking with a few group buyers they said it was a JLR issue of modern times against an inability to apply merc or bmw discount levels which are always high...I remember a few range rovers waiting many months for deliver and values being high. Unfortunately LR dealers are between a rock and a hard place. They have hundreds of 2.0l models for the same, or more, than new 3.0l cars, on AutoTrader alone it’s like 445 cars at a value of say £27m. Obviously the line of thought is peeps will buy those now instead of a new 3.0l car in a few months. But delivery times seem to be reducing, and 3.0l cars are being discounted already. They’ll have to start discounting old stock, or shift them to somewhere that will. I’d have a think re 2.0l cars, but it would have to be for a healthy discount as I’ll get hammered on resale. And re ordering then waiting for a really long time for delivery to try and keep values up, that would be mega high risk as peeps will just go elsewhere. Those days are long gone for most buyers I’d have thought.

If you want a defender (or JLR) you want it, there isn’t really anywhere else to go.
I still don’t see the big deal on the engine, so happy to not wait for a 6 cylinder...I bet there will be a few that will see through the engine and/or just want to get into the car and also not want the mhev gubbings in the future, which was our thoughts Very similar to 2.4 v 2.2 Still in everyone’s interest for strong residues Actually the best for everyone is managing supply to support demand and quality etc Mike |
