You can order Perei lights from here… https://www.dun-bri.com/Brands/LITE-wire/R...-LED-Lamps Also try some noise suppressors on your suspension wiring, various sizes here… https://www.amazon.co.uk/sourcing-map-Ferr...B07YK1432B |

ZED - I've been looking into that but it appears, there are problems with this display and the GM canbus, when finished I was going to connect it and have a look at the data to see if there is anything else that can be displayed. Would be great to get the display doing more than just the Tractive. Also I'm told there is different firmware for differing can protocols and I'm not sure which firmware tractive use, so probably unlikely I'll get anywhere with this, but wouldn't it be great....
Steve, thanks I'll try the suppression. and thanks for the link, unfortunately they have stopped making the clear ones, so I need to find someone with stock or use the red/oragne ones which I'm not that keen on... Update - Have found a company with stock of an all clear solution https://www.mobilecentre.co.uk/set-of-6-re...r-defender Last edited by mrfirepro on 22nd Feb 2024 1:36pm. Edited 2 times in total |

Ive been preparing for the imminent arrival of the van sides from the body shop and have a few questions. The following photos were take when I was stripping the donor but what I see in the pictures does not match the parts I see in the LR parts diagrams.
In this picture there is a rubber mount at he bottom of the L bracket but I don't see this in the parts diagram, I have bought this part from YRM, is this the correct part or am I missing something? Part - https://yrmit.co.uk/product/rubber-buffer-...eries-2-3/ Click image to enlarge In this picture there are two what seem to be spacers (shims) on the bottom of the L bracket but I don't see them in the parts diagrams. I assume they space the sides off the body?? are two always needed ? are they shims, anything I need to know when fitting the sides?? if needed what are the part numbers please Click image to enlarge These seem very simple things but just want to make sure I have everything so the painted sides are not hanging around my workshop, because, as you know, it's sooo very very tidy |

A quick update on the rear lights, received the Perie lights and I think they look great, IMO a little more modern. However some things I've learnt..
1. The clear ones are not being made any more, there are some knocking around but when they are gone perei are not making the clear ones again. 2. When you order this kit you get 6 lights but only 4 plinths (I missed this, see below), but the supplied plinths are genuine JLR units and good quality. (the JLR ones are over £40 ea to buy again) 3. These light do not fit in the optimill slimline plinths ( , double ) 4. On the special edition Defenders the rear indicators were installed in the inbound location. So got a set of clear WIPACS and two Optimil plinths if anyone is interested. May decide to get the fronts as well at some stage over the next week so that the full van is matching, but I'll need to be quick. (not sure if they do front side light???, would reverse light be OK???) Photos as usual Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge WIPAC with optimil plinth Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Out of interest I've not changed the flasher relay and everything is working... Is there any reason to still change the relay?? I'm picking up the VAN sides on Saturday so next week it should be looking a bit more finished. I've decided to try and get this finished for our local car show in May, so fingers crossed.. |

Great work Paul glad you ditched the nasty Wipac chrome lights, I got Bryan at Design and Development to make some billet plinths for the Perei lights and I think he now has them on his website. I do have a spare front and rear set if you get stuck.
The spacers are for the late type foam hardtop seal and I think are AYF500020 but are a rediculous £2.61 each and probably minimum qauntity. We try and use as many stainless fasteners as possible so use a M8 HD washer from Westfield Fasteners. The important top washer which fits above the hardtop side has a elongated hole to allow for adjustment these should be AYF500070 but JLR seem to send any old washer out for non safety items these days. |

Lights are finished off and they look great, I appreciate the tip
I've never liked the inner bulkhead door strip that only goes half way, so been playing around with this, it will be powder coated finally this is just a trial, what do you think..... Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge I've been fitting the side panels and found that the YRM kit for the brackets to the RH and LH side of the rear door where the side panel fixes to the tub doesn't fit, thankfully I got the old brackets plated. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge I'm struggling a bit with the side panel alignment but that will be the subject of my next update... |

Nice attention to detail on the door strip. Are you painting it black or body colour?
