got a friend to Tig the vacuum outlet for the oil catch can so I can finish the intake.
Click image to enlarge not sure if it’s a bit too closed to the AFM?? Finally got round to finishing the on-air suspension system and spent 30 mins online with them setting it up, I'll post a video when I get five mins of the heights, quite pleased with the whole process and it all worked flawlessly. Click image to enlarge T washed, ready for EM121 Click image to enlarge Finished article...well nearly no sealing strips (anyone know the parts numbers?) Click image to enlarge Also, not sure if they (sill rails) should be body colour or not, anyone know?? floors in.. Click image to enlarge Also got round to fitting the underfloor panels which I forgot about until recently Click image to enlarge |

Has anyone ever figured out the purpose of these things and what, apart from collecting mud and grot, they actually do? As far as I can tell they were only fitted to the XS spec models and I have to assume that they are Landrover's impressive attempt at sound proofing. It is hard to see any other purpose, and I have reservations about how effective they are at that. My County-spec vehicle certainly never had them fitted and doesn't seem any the worse for not having them. |

It’s a good system; when the end of the day comes you can just sweep all your tools into a pile in the corner, ready for the following morning. Saves you spending a fortune on a snap on roll cab! |

Agreed, but on my low mileage MY16 hard top (Corris body colour) they are looking not perfect and I have been thinking of having them ‘blacked’ with something, for purely esthetic reasons Rob 1993 200tdi 90 hard-top 1998 300tdi 90 soft-top 2016 2.2 XS 90 hard-top (sold) |

Can’t believe it’s been nearly 5 weeks since my last update, I'm going to call this update "Find anything to do so I don’t have to get on with the electronics"
Not been a busy time at all, still planning the electronics but not actually doing anything I've got to start getting on with the tub so finished off the underneath ready to go to the body shop Two Coats of Lizardskin Sound control... Click image to enlarge Two coats of Lizardskin ceramic insulation Click image to enlarge And two coats of top coat EM121 Click image to enlarge Fitted the ride height switches and the electronic park brake switch to the cubby box Click image to enlarge Anyone that’s mad enough to have read all this drivel will know that I'm very concerned about the additional heat under the bonnet, so in addition to all the heat limiting under the bonnet I've decided that these don’t look too bad and will help with cooling. I think they will look a lot better when the bonnet is painted black as well. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge That’s about it for now, hopefully there will be some electricary progress to report on my next update, thanks for reading |

Thanks fully the electronics are nearly done, and tomorrow is the day when it finally bursts into life.
Having nearly completed this here are some of my notes... 1. I'd planned a new fuse box with 16 ways, which should have left plenty of spares. should have gone for 20 plus...here is a list of things that need power either permanent live or ignition switched (these are in addition to the standard on-air and GM loom fuses, however I have amalgamated some of the spurious fuses into the new fuse board. a. Engine ECU IGN b. Start Inhibit ECU IGN c. Gear Select IGN d. Air suspension IGN e. Electronic Park Brake IGN f. Heated Mirrors IGN g. Reverse can Relay IGN h. Park Brake PERM i. DRL PERM j. Washer Pump PERM k. Roof Light bar l. Dashcams m. n. o. p. Dashcam battery pack This is a list of where items are mounted, and they all seem to fit quite well but as expected not much room left. In the cubby box/gear shifter housing a. Electronic Park Brake control unit b. 16-way auxiliary fuse board c. GM OBD2 port and EML d. electronic handbrake switch e. air suspension up/down switches f. Electronic Park brake control relay g. Reverse light CAN relay Under the driver seat - with all the normal LR bits (fuse box, ABS control unit etc etc...) a. GM ECU b. GM TCM c. Speartech Neutral safety switch d. GM Relays for fuel pump, both fans and something else I've forgotten e. DRL control unit Under the passenger’s seat (plus AGM battery) a. On air suspension control ECU b. On air Air pressure control block c. On air control relay d. Dashcam battery pack Have also directly wired three earth posts to both seat boxes and near the aux fuse board and run additional wires between all three areas and a spare loom to the bulkhead fuse box location, just in case these may be needed in the future. I'll post some pics up when it's all finished as there is a lot of labelling and tidying up to do. It however has not been without incidents as the main electronic parking brake controller was wired wrong, the electronic park brake wiring diagram didn’t match the actual unit and shifter interlock is still not working properly (will revisit this when we have the engine running and the gear box can be filled with oil as hopefully it's gearbox related not wiring) I'll post a first start video over the next few day. |
