Very quick question please...
I'm toying with mounting options for these controllers and the GM wiring loom. Click image to enlarge It seems obvious to me that a good location would be the seat box under the drivers seat as nearly all interface points are available, like this... Click image to enlarge I've done some goggling and cannot find examples of these controllers being installed in the drivers seat box.... Is there something I'm missing as to why these units and the wiring cannot be installed in the driver seat box? |

I've decided to get all electronics in the driver seat box but it leaves me with a challenge of how to get the massive connectors of the GM loom into the seat box. I've found this grommet. 25mm internal hole and max approx 55mm external hole.
Click image to enlarge Going to make a bigger hole and make a plate to cover it all up including the on air suspension loom, hopefully should look OK and be functional. talking on-air suspension I've all but finished the battery box arrangment...soon be time for commissioing the system Click image to enlarge Also fitted the NAS step I bought about 6 months ago.. Click image to enlarge Also started fitting some of my xmas presents.... Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Whilst I'm into cable routing I thinking of installing an aux. fuse box in the drivers seat box any suggessions, ideas, comments, help much appreciated. |

Great work! The only fuse boards I've read good things about are Blue Sea, but no personal experience. Did you give the NAS step an extra coat of paint and internal wax? They don't seem to last very long before rusting. James

A few people have asked for an update as it been nearly 3 months since my last one
. Its been quite slow with progress as it been away for some time having an exhaust made. The good news is that I have some time to get a complete wiring schematic done which is a monster and finally sort the interior out. I'm particularly excited about the interior as it's going to be as wild as the rest of it, cant wait to share this with you guys. Here is one of the last photos from before it went for a custom exhaust. Click image to enlarge The good news is it's all ready to be transported back and I should have it next week. Then the electrickery will start..... Opinion please, I have a brand new pair of these OE Recaros Click image to enlarge As part of my interior scheme these will be stripped and recovered, would I be better off using some standard recaros instead of these OE ones...... |

Thanks for the update, its looking great! So have you gone for a switchable hooligan baffle bypass on the exhaust?
Can't wait to see the interior! I believe the OE LR Recaros are a rare thing these days so like you say may be sacrilege? I do believe they are slightly different to the CS Recaros though so may be the best for the 90? All I do know is I wish I could buy them off you!! Haha! You're soundproofing is well worth it then!!
With the sunny weather I've been running about in the 3.5V8 with the sides up and damn its loud with a Demand exhaust WITH double baffles!! You could always retrim them ones and sell the take off covers.
The main thing they will have is the removable bases Searching for my first Defender...and started just as Covid hit, so talk about timing. 5 months after starting the search I found it, and here is the details |

Good point, so if I buy standard defender (not OE) recaros they don't have a removeable base????

There are companies that can make the std ones removable. I have one set of conversion parts to possibly fit this weekend. Well I’ll check how it goes first or I’ll be unbolting and bolting the seats to get to the battery. Searching for my first Defender...and started just as Covid hit, so talk about timing.

Gareth at defender upgrades makes the pins to make the standard CS bases removable. It’s a 10 minute job. |
