Gearbox rebuild number?
Does anyone recognise the number stamped above the serial no. In this photo?

I presume it is a rebuild number but would be interested to know when/where if it was rebuilt if anyone can help. 1985 127 V8 Build Thread

Might be worth sending a photo of the number to Ashcroft Transmissions, I sent a copy of the number on my transfer box and it turned out it was one of their rebuilds.

I'd second that, I had a rebuild stumpy R380 fitted last year from Ashcrofts and the format is similar; 1 letter and 5 digits.

Got to be worth an ask.

Provide them with as much detail as you can and I'd have thought they'd be able to assist, if it is one of theirs.

Mr Ashcroft has confirmed it had a normal rebuild in April 2011.

From initial inspection it looks as though the selector bush disintegrated and the box was removed (large lumps of selector bush as opposed to ground up bits). 1985 127 V8 Build Thread
