What fuel rail pressure do you get when cranking?

Plugged in the Nanocom
There were a couple of codes where I had been switching the IPACS so cleared all codes first.
Then with the engine cranking the Fuel Rail Pressure (MPA) was between 140 - 150
Not sure if relevant but the Fuel rail sensor (V) remained at 0.0 whilst cranking

Also read DTCs again after cranking and got
Tested
P0335 Crank position sensor A intermittent
Not tested
U3000
and thank you !

A failed or intermittent crankshaft position sensor would certainly cause the sudden death symptom, and would also cause the failure to start symptom since the injectors won't fire unless the ECM can determine when to fire them. Certainly the first thing to check given the presence of that DTC.

Inspected the Crank Position sensor wiring but could not see anything. Got continuity from either of the pins to earth. Cleaned refitted and tried to start. Engine fired a couple of times but would not run. Retried to start but just cranking and not firing.
Its getting dark, but noticed the brake lights are permanently on. Could be coincidence, but wonder if it is relevant. I think I will unplug the ECU plugs and see if I can individually prove the integrity of the yellow/purple and green wires from the crank sensor in the morning.

The engine died whilst driving. I checked for error codes, but non recorded or pending ( divorce is not an option...........yet )

Just take a look, if there's any juice coming out of the injectors

The brake lights are on? Wasn't there something on this before about the brake lights and engine trouble? I'm sure others will chime in soon. I can't really do a proper search here on the forum right now as my connection is spotty and I'll be lucky if this will post. Something worth looking into.

Turned out the brake lights were a red herring as I replaced the pedal switch as it was faulty. Looks like I may have a short on the Crankshaft sensor wiring so I am rewiring this tomorrow.
