Defender bulkhead rust proofing
Hello,

I need some advise in regards to preventing the bulkhead from rusting. Would you drill any holes to get cavity wax in? Or removing the the hinge bolts and grommets be Sufficeint ? I don’t like the idea of drilling holes but I’d prefer that than find the bulkhead rotten.

I have always removed the hinge bolts and used a pressure gun to inject rust proofing fluid upwards into the bulkhead leg from the bottom. Not had any problems doing it this way.

I have sprayed ACF-50 and dinitrol cavity wax in mine. Through the door hinge bolt holes and through the wiper grommets, but I’m not satisfied it’s enough. I know people do drill small holes to inject it in. But I’m reluctant to do so. So was hoping someone would have done it somewhere I haven’t.

There is frame inside of bulkhead which divides it into internal areas. Spraying through the door hinges and wiper grommets covers less than half of those areas. I would drill holes to extend healthy life of the bulkhead.

Would you share information on where the holes were drilled?

i wouldn't drill any more holes.

just use what's there with your rust converter and then wax of choice.

its better than nothing.
