Touch wood never had on the 110 but had similar experience when driving a works transit, reported problem and garage said it was a problem with the anti stall system not recognising clutch was depressed. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to us off. Richard |

More than likely itโs the clutch switch. Iโd bypass it and see if your problem goes away.

cheers, thats all sounds possible.
if i recall from reading earlier threads the switch has to be bypassed closed if the plug is removed? if it was the switch how come touching the accelerator stops it? Cheers James 110 2012 XS Utility 130 2011 M57 bespoke Camper 90 2010 Hardtop 90 M57 1988 Hardtop |

Yes bypassing the clutch switch on a TD5 = disconnect the plug and leave, on a TDCi = disconnect the plug and connect the wires.
AFAIK the anti-stall is only active whilst the accelerator pedal is not pressed. This is certainly the case with the TD5 and can be demonstrated if manoeuvring on a steep slope, gentle use of clutch with no throttle doesnt result in a stall but resting your foot on the throttle whilst doing the same manoeuvre results in a stall. Correct, blipping the throttle will "disengage" AS. It might also be worth checking that your brake lights are working (failure of these, or the fuse for them, has strange effects on the ECU) although in this case I don't think this will be the problem. |

Ok, cheers on all. Will bypass clutch switch and see it that works. Brake lights are good. Cheers

It does sound like the clutch switch.

bypassed the switch. still does it.
was thinking on this. Anti stall is complemented by accelerator input on a TDCI. ie it works with it and uses which ever is greater anti stall input or pedal input. Td5 anti stall turns off as soon as you touch accelerator. anyway, closed the loop bypassed it with proper fittings and it still does it. does it in fact when driving sometimes, come off the gas and it still puts power down a little until throttle touched again. just move evident when changing gear if immediately after touching accelerator pedal. connector on pedal looks good. i am deducing its a pedal fault that clears when pedal is touched again. anyone any ideas or come across it before? I know the VCV being often mentioned as a cure all scenario but when was yours last changed?
I have had the issues youโve mentioned before, and the culprits were mainly the clutch switch or VCV. The MAF & MAP Sensors, is unknown but I replaced mine for new but they may be worth cleaning and checking. Is your EGR active too or is it deleted? If active that can again be a culprit but a DTC is usually present with most of the factors except the VCV. If nothing else, these maybe some ideas to try.

i was thinking pedal potentiometer too. but havent read much on these going.
VCV - thats a thought, another easy to change and hadnt considered that. EGR - deleted. Cheers James 110 2012 XS Utility 130 2011 M57 bespoke Camper 90 2010 Hardtop 90 M57 1988 Hardtop |

As far as I know the anti-stall on a TDCi is completely inactive if there is any pedal input, and only works with zero pedal input. Changing the pedal is relatively cheap and easy and would rule it out (or rule it in). |

You can accelerate above anti stall rpm it just doesn't react to inputs below it or turn it off like it did with td5 era. Certainly the case on early puma when they came out. It was a point raised to lr for sorting from td5 era back from my days working with jlr. Cheers
