So new LR Product (excluding defender).... With a warranty Maybe, out of Warranty.. NO.

Defender any age... Yes

TBH this is no different to any other car - especially when you look at the volumes produced, with all the LR products - including the defender - most of it is just hot air; with discussions done to death on the subject

The body off seems excessive and i suppose it is, but they are designed to do that; with it actually not being that much of a big deal...just seems if from a traditionalist point of view.

Actually, to some extent the body off has its advantages!! but all in any modern car is complicated and any car has scare stroies - what about ferraris that need to go back to Italy for work?

I see your point, but personally i dont have enough money for repairs which i know will be very expensive, regardless of if its the correct way of getting to a particular point.

Again this is probably relevant to all new cars. However with a defender, generally repairs are alot easier. Costs of parts are probably comparable to other marques.

My other point, which is regardless of money is that it would annoy me to have my car in the garage for long stretches at a time, especially if it was relatively new. Again this isnt any different to other car makes, but most things on a defender can be done in a day, and most problems wont stop them running.

Im not wishing to have a mine is better than yours argument, i would undoubtably like any of the new LR models, If i won the lottery, i might have one of each, but as i earn my money, and currently only need one vehicle, my Td5 90 is the one for me. I cant be bothered with electric handbrakes that go wrong, air sus, etc etc, for basically something that does the same as my 90. Again, you may not agree with that statement, but thats my 2 pence.

I would say my 90 spent more time in the dealer (2 months) in the same time ive had my range rover to date - infact my defender spent around about 10 months in the 3.5yrs in the dealer...possibly longer if i worked it out.

On one occasion i had my defender back for 15 minutes after 2 weeks, before i was without it again for another week.

And yes, whilst some parts, generally actually, for land rovers are cheaper - the Puma - still given its age, is more expensive on parts than say a td5...i havent looked recently, but i bet the avaliability of none genuine filters is still hit and miss.
