I have the original Outback roof console which Terrafirma one is based on. Main difference being that Terrafirma usedoriginal interior lamps Though I have LED Festoon bulbs in mine which makes a difference. I also sprayed mine black and trimmed it to go round my roll cage 'B' hoop.

Hiya, wondering if you ever got one of these as a terrafirma version and could take any side shots of it, looking at romadog's one it does look deeper in section. I'm 6'2 and my brother is 6'7 so trying to figure out how much it drops down. Also, anyone know if it uses original fixing holes through to the roof reinforcement bar or does it need more holes creating in the headlining? EDIT: just found an image, but still can't quite tell what it's really like to use if you're tall. Plus there's no measurements i can find anywhere. Have added the image in. You just end up going full circle https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic12005-30.html |

A friend of mine has one of these in his 110- it doesn't feel particularly well made.

I also have the Outback version, not the Terrafirma, so hope this helps.
I'm not quite as tall as those asking about the unit, but you never feel it intrudes into your headspace (Puma 110 with two standard front seats). The Outback unit is quite well made. It uses existing mounting points but yes you do need to trim visors - I did my own and was reasonably happy with the result. It also helps that you rarely look at the trimmed end! And, my unit is carrying an iCom radio, ie not zero weight, and has never felt like coming loose. Admittedly I don't do a lot of off-road/corrugations (it has done some) but it's just never moved. Measurements: it's about 240mm @ widest point, and it drops down 110mm deepest. Finally, a side-view photo, taken from the back seat: Click image to enlarge |
