Cheers Pacha, really kind of you. I have another friend lending me one though, but thanks a bunch.

Have you managed to get it to a point where you’re happy?

Yeah it’s only paint as they say. It should cut back ok, it might even make the rest look bad so you’ll have to paint the whole truck haha. Gonna try painting mine tonight

I’m going to polish the repair tonight , I’ll show you a photo later. Colour is a bit off but I am happy how it all turned out to say I’d never done this before

So I removed the big bullet hole and made a piece to fit. Tidied up the bottom of the door. For some reason, the skirt which got painted with the same paint is a different colour haha oh well. Overall I’m pleased for a first attempt. Hopefully the piece I made will last a couple of years. Thanks for the help with my questions. Looking forward to seeing your wing shiny |

Thanks I’m well chuffed, you’d only know if you stop and stare close up. Just deciding what to tackle next

Does anyone have any recommendations for a budget spray gun? I need to start doing the bulkhead but also have other things I could be using it for.
Sorry for the hijack! Mick |

Who says you can’t get a decent finish with rattle cans? The side step just need a little flat and buff and the wheels didn’t need anything. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Ray My build thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic17615.html |

Just colour matched stuff from the local body shop paint supplier, they fill the aerosols with what paint code you give them, which is what I presume the stuff you bought was. I have done this sort of stuff before though as I used to work in a body shop for quite a few years Ray

Cheers. I used colour matched from paints4u. The paint went on well, what I struggled with was the clear coat.

It’s just getting the knack of how thick to lay it on and weather is a big factor if spraying either outside or a domestic garage. It might be worth buying a tin or two extra lacquer and practicing on some bits of scrap. Ray
