Buzzweld and chassis paint
Another task I might do whilst isolating.....

My 110 has been waxoyl treated before but most has come off.....

I was thinking of just using Buzzweld CIO and spray it all and then waxoyl over.

I read on the Buzzweld page that only 'extreme 4 coat dual product' outlasts the CIO.

Could someone explain what it is? Is it just a procedure of application?

Or is WAR more appropriate? I was going to retreat my other chassis which has been treated before and I think impossible to get all the old stuff off really.

Interesting to see you have not had good results.

I have used CIO and brushed it onto my challenge truck. It gets a hard time so if anything stays on its doing well!

I will have rethink before treating it. The 110 will probably see some off road action so want to protect it as best as possible.

I have just finished scrapping back the chassis to original paint (did have bilt hamber product on) with a paint scrapper and wire brush which took about a full days work.
Have brought bilt hamber underbody protection again plus degreaser and rust inhibitor and will degrease chassis, wash, put on inhibitor and then underbody protection.
What really surprised me was how, even with underbody protection on, there was still patches of rust. So glad i cleaned it off!!
So...unless you know there is no rust underneath then apply whatever product on top.

I did some reading up and canvased opinions on various chassis treatments prior to recently painting my new galvanised chassis and in the end I decided to go back to using Frosts Extreme Chassis Black (satin).
At the end of the day it is a well proven, hard wearing treatment and gives a fantastic finish.

Although I spayed the rear crossmember (and several inaccessible places) the remainder of the chassis was brush painted and I have to say it is almost impossible to tell. It is a lovely paint to work with and gives excellent results.


By the way, the marks on the brickwork are not overspray but exhaust soot, been parking this vehicle in the exact same spot for over 20-years and it tends to make its mark!!!!

That isn't overspray, it's exhaust soot! Very Happy

I reverse down the drive and the tailpipe sits just a couple of inches from the wall so soot stains are inevitable, been parking this vehicle like that for 20-years so the soot stains are ingrained and won't come off whatever you (try) to clean them with.

I park in one position most of the time in-between a pair of security posts (which are spaced just 6-inches further apart than the length of the LR) which means that the exact same spot gets the soot on start-up. The other stains are from where it is parks slightly forwards at various times, usually to allow me to carry out some maintenance. ONE LIFE, GET IT!
