Vented disc upgrade
Hi all

1. Vented disc upgrade - is it worth it?
2. is it just a case of changing discs and calipers?

Any other bits needed apart from pads/fitting kit?

Cheers

I've just done this on my 90. Yesterday!
Not had chance to drive it with the lockdown restrictions,so,I'll report back when I've got a few miles on with the vented discs,we'll see if there is any improvment.
I used to get brake fade on some of the long decents in the Pyrenees,so,if nowt else,I'm hoping the vented discs should cool down a bit quicker so reduce fade.

Marc.

Thanks - mate has given me some new old stock calipers I'll replace the seals and give them a go.

Any good guides anywhere on how to check CV joints for wear? think mine are knackered.

Are the copies any good or should I go OEM/GKN?

Cheers

Or you can add the spacer and o rings to make a std caliper wider. Cheers

WHy do you think CV joints are worn? Clicking on full lock? They generally wear out after other bits of the driveline due to being relatively protected and well oiled inside the swivel housing. Mine are 200k miles old and still nice and tight!

Yes they do click on lock but also holding shafts either side and twisting there is play.

Holding the shafts on either side of the CV joint or either side off the whole axle? The last will be diff play I think. My CV never got worn they just broke:
